Antiquo: Antique Identifier

Effective Date: August 24, 2026

Last Updated: August 24, 2026

1. Introduction

Antiquo: Antique Identifier ("the App", "we", "us") helps you identify antiques and collectibles from photographs and shows what comparable items are currently being asked for on eBay. This policy explains exactly what happens to your data.

We have tried to write this plainly. Where something leaves your device, we say so.

2. There is no account

Antiquo has no sign-up, no login and no user profile. We do not ask for your name, email address or phone number, and we cannot identify you personally from anything the App sends us.

The App generates a random identifier for your installation. It is not derived from your device, your Apple ID or anything about you, and it is discarded when you delete the App.

3. Your photos

Photos you scan are sent off your device. To identify an item, the App uploads the photograph you take (and the close-up of a mark, if you take one) to OpenRouter, which passes it to an AI model — currently Google Gemini, with an OpenAI model as a fallback. There is no way to identify an item without this step.

We do not keep a copy of your photographs on our own servers, because we do not operate any. The processing providers handle the image under their own policies, linked at the end of this page.

Photographs you save into your collection are stored in the App's own storage on your device. They are not uploaded to us, not backed up by us, and not shared with anyone.

4. Price lookups

To show a price range, the App sends a short text search phrase — words describing the item, such as "victorian silver pocket watch" — to eBay. Your photograph is never sent to eBay.

Links to eBay listings include our affiliate tag. If you buy something after following one, eBay may pay us a commission. It does not change the price you pay, and it does not affect which listings we show you.

5. Your collection

Items you save, including photographs and any notes you write, are stored only on your device.

This means they are not recoverable by us. If you delete the App, reset the device, or move to a new phone, your collection is gone and we cannot restore it. There is no server-side copy.

6. Analytics, crash reports and subscriptions

The App uses the following services. Each receives the random installation identifier described in Section 2, plus technical information about the device (model, OS version, app version, language, country).

ServiceWhat it receives
Firebase Analytics (Google)Which screens are opened and which actions are taken, in aggregate
Firebase Crashlytics (Google)Crash reports and the technical state at the moment of a crash
Firebase Remote Config (Google)Nothing about you; it delivers settings to the App
ApphudSubscription and purchase state, Apple receipt
AmplitudeProduct analytics — which features are used
AppsFlyerInstall attribution — which advertisement or link led you to the App
OpenRouterThe photographs you submit for identification (Section 3)
eBayThe text search phrase for price lookups (Section 4)

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising targeting of our own.

7. Tracking permission

Before collecting Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA), the App asks for your permission through the standard iOS App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, the identifier is not collected, and the App works exactly the same in every other respect.

8. Retention

9. Your rights

You can delete everything Antiquo holds about you by deleting the App. Because we have no account system, that removes your collection entirely.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability and objection under the GDPR. If you are a California resident, you have rights of access, deletion and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them under the CCPA. We do not sell personal information.

To exercise any of these, write to playnowthisgame@gmail.com. Because the App holds no account, we may need you to tell us your installation identifier, which is shown at the bottom of the Settings screen.

10. Children

Antiquo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, please write to us and we will delete it.

11. Security

Data in transit is encrypted with HTTPS. Data on your device is protected by the operating system's own app sandbox. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced in the App.
